As the list of governments designing and implementing policies around building performance standards (BPS) continues to grow, so does the list of BPS programs supported by Arc.

These standards are outcome-based policies and laws with the goal of reducing the carbon impact of the built environment through establishing performance-based targets for existing buildings around energy and/or greenhouse gas emissions. Cities, counties, states and countries have created their own standards as tools supporting decarbonization.

The newest updates to Arc support the City of Denver and State of Colorado:

  • Colorado’s Energy Performance for Buildings legislation requires reductions in greenhouse gas intensity from a 2021 baseline for 2026 and 2030 targets for buildings larger than 50,000 square feet.
  • Energize Denver created 2030 targets for "Weather-Normalized Site EUI" based on space type for buildings larger than 25,000 square feet.

Currently, Arc’s Advanced Scoring tools (available with an Arc Essentials subscription) support over 20 BPS programs, including New York Local Law 97 and the European Union’s Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM).
